José Carreras – A Life Story

A Documentary by Chris Hunt
A Co-production of Monarda Arts / RM Arts, Iambic Productions and LWT South Bank Show

In 1987, José Carreras, one of the world’s top three operatic tenors, fell victim to leukaemia and was given only a ten per cent chance of survival. Triumphantly, he beat the odds, recovering from the disease and returning to the stage. This moving film profile tells his extraordinary story and features him in rehearsal, performance and interview. Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, Montserrat Caballé, Claudio Abbado and Colin Davis, among others, reveal both their personal fondness for Carreras and their professional admiration for his talent.
